Data Rights
- All rights are reserved by Motto Marine International, except what our terms allow and the rights of our sources.
- No scraping, no bulk copying and no use to train AI. The Data API is the only way for a program to take data from Gangway AIS.
- These limits apply to everyone who uses the site or the chart, with or without an account.
1. What belongs to us
The site, the chart, the software, the design, the name and logo of Gangway AIS, the documentation and the texts belong to Motto Marine International.
So do the database we build and the results we compute from it: vessel histories, tracks, port calls, waiting times, port pictures, events, statistics and reports. We have put substantial work and money into collecting, checking and presenting them. They are protected by copyright and by the database right of French and EU law.
Data from our sources stays under their licences. The sources and their credits are listed on the site.
2. What nobody may do
Without our written agreement you may not:
- Scrape or collect the site, the chart or their answers with bots, scripts, crawlers or any other automated means.
- Copy, mirror or rebuild a substantial part of our data, or repeatedly take small parts until it amounts to one.
- Get around a limit, a sign-in, a pass or any other protection.
- Pass on positions or tracks as data, or put them into another product or database.
- Use our data to build, feed or improve another vessel-tracking, AIS or maritime data service.
- Use the site or its data for text and data mining or to train artificial intelligence. We expressly reserve this right.
- Remove credits, timestamps, sources or notices.
3. What you may do
- Open and read the site and the chart as a person.
- Link to any public page.
- Quote a single answer or share a single screenshot, naming Gangway AIS and keeping the credits on it.
- Use the Data API and your reports as our Terms of Service allow.
Search engines may read the public pages that our robots.txt file opens to them.
4. If these limits are broken
We may block the address or close the account and we keep our rights to claim for the damage. These limits also protect the licences of our sources: breaking them can cost us our access to the data.
5. Asking for more
If you need data in a way this page does not allow, write to hello@gangway.app. These limits never reduce a right that the law gives you and that cannot be set aside.
